Power Back On at County Facilities

Power Back On at County Facilities

Several Tulare County buildings impacted by a power distribution failure on Monday will be powered by generators through the rest of this week.

Crews will work on fixing the infrastructure that provides power to four buildings occupied by several County of Tulare departments and the Tulare County Office of Education. The power failure will be completely fixed prior to next business week.

More than 100 County of Tulare employees from the Board of Supervisors, County Administrative Office, County Counsel, and Human Resources & Development (HR&D) departments were sent home before noon on Monday after the power disruption was determined to last longer than a day. In addition, more than 220 Office of Education employees were sent home.

On Tuesday, generators were utilized to power the Office of Education and the County Administrative Building, where a regularly scheduled 9 a.m. Board of Supervisors meeting took place. Generators will also be used to power the building in which County Counsel and HR&D staff work. Prior to the generators being used for the building, staff from both departments will be working at alternate work locations at County facilities.

All departments will be fully operational for business Wednesday morning.
