Tulare County Library to Hold 2019 Annual Book Festival on April 13

Saturday, April 13, 2019 celebrate the second annual Tulare County Library Book Festival at the Visalia Branch Library at 200 West Oak Ave., Visalia, CA 93291 from 10am-3pm. The Tulare County Library Foundation, along with Tulare County Library and Friends of Tulare County Library hosts the Festival that includes authors, discussions, book signings, live interviews, literary and arts organizations, FREE workshops and seminars, children’s crafts, storytime, food trucks, and much more. This FREE all ages event features books and fun throughout the day.

The Festival boasts over 30 booths and events featuring award winning and bestselling authors:

Kasie West, one of two of our local Central Valley authors. Her YA novels include The Fill-in Boyfriend, P.S. I Like You, Lucky in Love, and Listen to Your Heart. Her books were named ALA Quick Picks for Reluctant Readers and YALSA Best Books for Young Adults. Kasie lives in Fresno.

Isabel Quintero, from California’s Inland Empire, is a writer of books for children, young adults, adults, older adults, and she also writes poetry. She received many awards for her debut young adult book, Gabi a Girl in Pieces and received great praise for her children’s book series, Ugly Cat and Pablo and the biographical book Photographic: The Life of Graciela Iturbide, beautifully illustrated by Zeke Peña.

Christina Lynch, a local Tulare County author, television writer, and educator, whose debut adult novel is The Italian Party. She also co-authored City of Lost Dreams and City of Dark Magic under the pen name Magnus Flyte. At Harvard, she was an editor on the Harvard Lampoon and later the Milan correspondent for W magazine and Women’s Wear Daily. She teaches at College of the Sequoias and provides writing workshops in the community.

In addition, join the local authors outside including Janie Isidoro, Sylvia Ross, and many more. The authors will speak about their books on our outside stage and at their booths. For aspiring writers, we offer two wonderful workshops. The poetry workshop presented by the library’s own Erin Elliot.

Local celebrities, library volunteers, and staff will be present a special storytime. Our storytelling lineup includes Tulare County Supervisor Amy Shuklian and more!

Inside the Library, the Friends of the Library Spring Used Book sale offers a variety of titles. In addition festival authors sell books, sign, and answer questions throughout the event. Usborne Books will be there as well with a great variety of books.
