EXETER – A new year is upon us, and while we keep our resolutions for staying organized, Tulare County Environmental Health reminds us that when sorting through items and cleaning for the new year, electronic waste and universal waste shouldn’t just be tossed in the trash.
Tulare County Household Hazardous Waste and E-Recycling Solutions, a project of Community Services & Employment Training (CSET) is hosting a free Clean Up Event for electronic waste (e-waste) and universal waste (u-waste) collection Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the Exeter Corporation Yard, 250 W. Firebaugh, Exeter. This free collection event will take place from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Residents are encouraged to bring their e-waste and u-waste to the event for proper disposal. Items that will be accepted for e-waste are microwaves, televisions, computers, monitors, printers, cellular phones, central processing units (CPUs), keyboards, faxes, and plasma screens. Items that will be accepted for u-waste are fluorescent bulbs and compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) bulbs. Please note, items not noted above, or business or agricultural waste can be accepted.
For more information about e-waste and u-waste please call Letty Gonzalez of CSET at (559) 741-4675 or (559) 805-0417, or visit CSET at www.cset.org. For more information about household hazardous waste disposal, call Tulare County Environmental Health Services at (559) 624-7400.
