Tulare County’s Animal Control Shelter will be closed to the public on Monday, September 17, due to a comprehensive technical information system upgrade.
The animal control shelter, located at 14131 Ave. 256 in Visalia, will reopen on September 18. The shelter provides kenneling and holding services for stray, sick, and injured animals that have been picked up or brought into the kennel.
Residents will not be able to walk through the kennels or surrender and drop off animals on that day. However, emergency calls will still be handled by on-call animal control officers.
The system upgrade will allow animal control employees to improve tracking of animal control complaints from the time they come into the system to completion and allow better accounting for the animal conditions and health, which ultimately improves the overall shelter health. Residents should notice an increase in efficiency upon the completion of this project.
