District Attorney's Office Takes A Plunge To Benefit Special Olympics

Staff with the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office recently raised more than $3,500 to benefit the Special Olympics of Northern California & Nevada by taking a “plunge” into Millerton Lake, just east of Fresno. 

The fourteen volunteers from the District Attorney’s “Frozen Justice” Polar Plunge Team raised the most funds of any team that participated in the competition, which took place on March 8. This is the second year in a row the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office raised the most funding for this event.

Special Olympics Northern California and Nevada is a free year-round sports training and competition program for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. There are 19,000 athletes who compete in 172 competitions throughout the regions in 11 sports. This requires the extraordinary support and time of 18,600 volunteers and volunteer coaches. Financial support comes almost exclusively from individuals, organizations, corporations, and foundations.
