The Tulare County Board of Supervisors designated April 22 as Adult Literacy Day at its weekly board meeting.
The Tulare County Library requested the Board of Supervisors to recognize the efforts of library literacy efforts throughout the County as well as the Read to Succeed Adult Literacy Program. Gillison introduced literacy program participant Veronica Serrano and Torrez presented literacy program participant Kalash Rana as outstanding examples of achievement in literacy.
Board of Supervisors Chairman Phil Cox asked the program administrators, tutors and learners to join him in front of the audience as he made the proclamation presentation.
“What these learners, Veronica and Kalash, have told us is what we need to hear about the importance of our literacy program,” Chairman Cox said.
