The Tulare County Board of Supervisors announced Tuesday its appointment of Reed Schenke as the County’s Resource Management Agency (RMA) Interim Director.
“I am confident that Reed is an excellent choice to lead the Resource Management Agency during this transition,” stated Board Chairman Pete Vander Poel. “His experience within the organization, his desire to continue the focus on Economic Development in the County, and his attention to quality customer service aligns with the Board’s priorities.”
In his role as Interim Director, Schenke will oversee the day-to-day operations of the three branches of RMA which include: Economic Development and Planning, Public Works, and Fiscal Services.
“I’m honored to have this opportunity to take on a new role alongside the capable staff at RMA as we work to build value and provide vital services for the County” said Schenke.
Schenke has worked for the County as an engineer in RMA for 14 years, moving up the ranks, and served as the department’s Assistant Director of Public Works since October.
According to County Administrative Officer, Michael Spata, “Reed is an outstanding engineer who is highly experienced in strategic and performance management.” Spata also said that “Reed’s broad-based experience throughout RMA will serve Tulare County very well.”
He received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from University of California, Davis and holds professional registrations in Civil Engineering and is a Qualified Stormwater Developer. In 2015, Schenke was named as Professional of the Year by the American Public Works Association.
