Tulare County Department of Child Support Services Celebrates Child Support Awareness Month with a Host of Community Events

Child Support Services will host two Resource and Employment Fairs, provide a Modification workshop, Compromise of Arrears Program (COAP) workshops in English and Spanish, visit local libraries, and attend “Make A Difference Monday’s” at the Visalia Rawhide game.

Resource and Employment Fairs

The department will host a fair with employers, schools and social service agencies at the Visalia office located at 8040 W. Doe Avenue on Thursday August 8, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. For event information visit:

Available only at the Visalia Resource and Employment Fair, Students of Milan Institute will be available to provide your child with a free haircut on a first come/first serve basis!

The second fair will be at the Porterville Employment Connection Office located at 1063 W. Parents who attend the Resource and Employment Fair events will have an opportunity to enter into a drawing for one of two backpacks filled with school supplies.

Community Workshops

The department will also have three workshops at the Visalia office located at 8040 W. Doe Avenue on Thursday, August 8, 2019:

  • Compromise of Arrears Program Workshop (English) from 9:00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. will explain a program that may assist customers in reducing past due debt owed to the state.
  • Compromise of Arrears Program Workshop (Spanish) from 10:00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. will explain a program that may assist customers in reducing past due debt owed to the state.
  • Modification and Court Workshop from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. will provide an opportunity for customers to learn about modifying their child support order as well as learning about what to expect in court.

A department representative will be at Tulare County libraries to discuss services offered by the office on the following dates:

  1. Visalia Branch Library – Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  2. Tulare Public Library – Friday, August 2, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  3. Ivanhoe Branch Library – Tuesday, August 6, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  4. Farmersville Branch Library – Wednesday, August 7, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  5. Strathmore Branch Library – Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  6. Lindsay Branch Library – Wednesday, August 14, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  7. Pixley Branch Library – Thursday, August 15, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. We will have a Presentation:  “Learn how to reduce past due debt owed to the State with our Compromise of Arrears Program,” at 10:00 a.m.
  8. Porterville Public Library – Friday, August 16, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Make a Difference Day

On August 19, 2019, representatives of the department will be attending the “Make A Difference Monday’s” Visalia Rawhide game beginning at 5:30 p.m. They will provide the community information and answer questions regarding services offered by the department.
