Visalia Mayor to Serve As Guest Speaker at County Library's "Getting to Know" Series

Visalia’s Mayor Steve Nelsen will be speaking at the Tulare County Library’s Visalia Branch at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 27 as part of the “Getting To Know” series.

The “Getting to Know” series is a Tulare County Library initiative that is designed to give residents an opportunity to get to know the people and issues affecting them.

In Mayor Nelson’s visit, he will give a snapshot of the city – where it stands financially and what issues lie ahead. Mayor Nelsen will give updates on current projects, including a new animal control facility, a new emergency communication center, a water conservation plant upgrade, and progress on parks throughout the city, including the Lincoln Oval.

There will be discussion about the drought and current status of water conservation measures the Visalia City Council may consider, and how the public’s efforts could make a huge difference in the city’s water supply. Community members will have an opportunity to get to know Visalia's Mayor, find out what led him to get involved in local government and about the demands of being a mayor.

These programs are free to the public and all are welcome to attend. For more information, please call (559) 713-2703 or go to: www.tularecountylibrary.org.
