Nicole Motley promoted to the position of Deputy Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer in charge of Pest Exclusion & Standardization Division

Former Agricultural & Standards Inspector IV, Nicole Motley, has been promoted to the position of Deputy Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer in charge of the Pest Exclusion & Standardization Division by Tulare’s Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer, Tom Tucker. She will assume her new role on April 26th, 2020.

Nicole was born and raised in Tulare, California. She was involved in Agriculture from a young age as her grandfather and uncles owned a dairy. She was heavily involved in both 4-H and FFA with raising swine, sheep, and dairy cattle. She participated on livestock judging teams and public speaking teams throughout her youth and into her college years. Nicole attended College of the Sequoias where she graduated with her Associate’s degree. Nicole then transferred to Fresno State where she graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Agricultural Business.

Nicole started her career with the Tulare County Agricultural Commissioner/Sealers Office in January 2012 as an Ag & Standards Inspector Trainee. She was promoted to Agricultural & Standards Enforcement Officer in January 2017. She was then promoted to Agricultural & Standards Inspector IV in November of 2017 in the Pesticide Use Enforcement Division.

As the Deputy Agricultural Commissioner in charge of our Pest Exclusion and Standardization Division, Nicole will oversee one of our department’s largest divisions. Nicole will oversee staff performing fruit and vegetable standardization & quality inspections, Nursery inspections, quarantine compliance, ACP (Asian Citrus Psyllid) Bulk Citrus Safeguarding inspections, and phytosanitary (export) inspection.

Nicole currently resides in Tulare with her husband Jeff, and their three children Makenna (10), Madison (7) and Merritt (18 mo.). Nicole will assume her new position immediately.
