Tulare County Board of Supervisors Names New Chief of Staff

On May 6, 2020, the Board of Supervisor voted to appoint Tammie Weyker-Adkins to the position of Chief of Staff, effective May 10, 2020. The vote was made at the motion of Supervisor Amy Shuklian and seconded by Supervisor Eddie Valero. The motion was approved 5-0. Weyker-Adkins fills the position vacated by Julieta Martinez, who was promoted as Economic Development Coordinator for the Tulare County Resource Management Agency in March.

Weyker-Adkins is no stranger to the Board of Supervisors having served as a Board Representative in 2012 prior to her role as an Administrative Specialist with the Tulare County Health and Human Services Agency. During her time at the agency, Weyker-Adkins served as the Public Information Officer and managed external media for Public Health, Mental Health, Emergency Preparedness Operations and Human Services programs. Having served seven years as spokesperson for the agency, Weyker-Adkins brings a wealth of knowledge in the area of public communications and project management to the Board of Supervisors office.

Weyker-Adkins holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Fresno State University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications from University of Wisconsin at La Crosse.

As Chief of Staff, Weyker-Adkins will aid County Supervisors in coordinating work of Board Representatives, public relations, and constituent services. In her new role, Weyker-Adkins will also oversee the development of legislative advocacy programs and communicate the County’s position on Federal, State and various governmental regulations affecting the County of Tulare.
